EXEED VX, the flagship model in the automaker’s lineup, has been awarded top scores by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) for the 2021 C-NCAP tests.
EXEED VX’s active and passive safety features enabled the vehicle to bag the much deserving “five-star” safety rating apart from being ranked first among all 7-seat medium and large SUVs since the promulgation of the new regulations in 2018 with a comprehensive score of 92.4 percent.
The vehicle’s success at the tests demonstrates the strength Chinese high-end automobile brands possess in safety.
C-NCAP by CATARC
C-NCAP has been one of the most authoritative third-party testing organizations of China’s automobile safety standards since the CATARC released the first edition of the impact scoring standard in 2006.
With the iterative development of technology in the automotive industry, the evaluation standards of CATARC have been constantly upgraded with the improvement of automobile safety level.
All-round safety performance tests are carried out on the dimensions of vehicle member protection, pedestrian protection, and active safety, which further tests the safety performance of the tested vehicles.
2021 C-NCAP Test Results
During rigorous testing, EXEED VX withstood the severe test with its tough body structure.
In the complete frontal impact and side impact tests, the front airbags and side curtains of the vehicle all burst. Thanks to the integrated safety cage frame, obstacles did not invade the cockpit, which remained intact after the impact, with no deformation of the A-pillars, effectively protecting the driving safety of all occupants in the first to third rows of the vehicle.
During the side impact test, EXEED VX bagged a perfect score of 20, ranking first among all tested vehicles since the implementation of the new regulations in 2018. In the whipping test, 40 percent offset impact test, and active safety test, EXEED VX also finished the tests with scores far exceeding the industry average.
An Exception
EXEED VX stands out from the crowd, thanks to its high-performance global architecture built according to global standards, the EXEED exclusive chassis architecture.
In terms of active safety, the bodywork adopts the integrated safety cage frame. In the selection of steel plates for the bodywork, the proportion of high-strength steel is as high as 85 percent, and the tensile strength of thermoformed steel plates used in B-pillars exceeds 1500MPa, providing a “capsule” safety protection for drivers and passengers.
In addition, the professional calibration team has conducted more than 1,000 simulations and more than 100 vehicle crash tests, building a five-star+ standard mobile safety fortress for consumers.
A winner across the Globe
Last year, EXEED VX won the “2021 Top Ten Vehicle Bodyworks of China” award for its strong body safety performance. Its 2.0TGDI engine was also selected as one of the top ten engines of “Chinese Heart”.
In the future, EXEED will rule the streets in Europe, South America, the Middle East, and other regions one after another, bringing safer and more comfortable high-end driving experiences to consumers around the world.
