This feature will be very helpful in situations including travel where typing is inconvenient.

Meta-owned WhatsApp is testing a new feature allowing users to send voice messages directly to its AI assistant, Meta AI. This capability, currently in beta testing, is available in WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.24.16.10, according to WABetaInfo, a reliable source for WhatsApp updates.

Users in the Google Play Beta program can access a new voice message icon within the chat interface, located next to the text input field. This icon, similar to the standard voice message symbol, lets users record and send voice messages to Meta AI. The AI will process the audio and generate a text response.

This feature represents a significant enhancement of Meta AI’s capabilities by adding audio processing to its existing functions, which previously included text-based interactions and image generation. It caters to users who prefer voice communication, particularly those on the move or in situations where typing is inconvenient.

In addition to voice messaging, WhatsApp is testing a feature enabling users to react to messages by double-tapping them, causing a heart emoji to appear by default. This reaction feature, already popular on Instagram and Facebook, is expected to boost user engagement on WhatsApp. The public release date for these features has not been disclosed.

Meta’s continuous development of WhatsApp features underscores its commitment to enhancing user experience through AI and streamlined communication tools. As these features undergo further testing, they are poised to make WhatsApp a more versatile and user-friendly platform.
