UVL Robotics, a major global provider of drone-based logistics solutions, has confirmed that it is working with local service providers to launch drone-based parcel delivery services in Oman.
The US-based company, which has a long-standing business in the Sultanate of Oman, noted that drone-based day-to-day parcel delivery services will soon be a reality in the country, beginning in Muscat.
“It is not magic! It is a new decision! Everyday commercial drone delivery for everyone! Very soon in Oman…” the global firm declared. The delivery service will be the “first of its kind” in the region.
“Its imminent launch of parcel delivery services will ignite the growth of a wider industry around drone delivery services,” the company remarked.
The customers in Muscat will benefit from drone delivery, as it would provide speedier service without the delays caused by high traffic or infrastructure. The project will offer customers the opportunity to choose their preferred method of delivery. Especially during the current pandemic, contactless delivery may be a top choice, according to the statement.
Mr. Eugene Grankin, CEO of UVL Robotics said, “It was a worthwhile experience to give our technologies life. The UVL team has received the trust from local authorities to move the project forward – I’m very grateful to everyone who was engaged in the process. It is a new milestone in the history of delivery service.”
A number of local Omani players have worked with UVL Robotics to investigate the potential for drone delivery services based on AI technologies over the last two years.
Last month, UVL announced a partnership with Omani logistics startup Mandoob to offer drone-based delivery services, adding to its expanding list of local partners.
