Urban Planning and Development Authority (UPDA) and the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), have added three new services to the “Planning” digital platform, as part of Bahrain’s digital transformation initiative.
The new services include reviewing requests for government site allocation, managing compensation claims, and updating property ownership data to align with area planning.
UPDA CEO Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayyat highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to advancing urban planning under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Abdulaziz Al Khayyat emphasized ongoing efforts to enhance services, streamline procedures, and improve efficiency for citizens and residents.
Abdulaziz Al Khayyat noted that these digital services reduce paperwork, eliminate the need for in-person visits, and cut processing times by up to 80 percent for certain stages. Internal consultations are now limited to five working days, and service-related consultations to 20 working days.
Fourteen services have been launched on the platform, with plans to automate and streamline the remaining 19 services. Al Khayyat emphasized the authority’s collaboration with the iGA to further enhance the platform and meet user expectations as part of broader government service improvements.
