Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Central Development Company (JCDC), a wholly owned company of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the sovereign wealth fund of KSA and the developer of the Jeddah Central Project, has been welcomed as a prestigious Affiliate Member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The UNWTO is the leading international organization in the field of tourism, it promotes tourism as a driver of economic growth, inclusive development, environmental sustainability and offers leadership and support to the sector in advancing knowledge and tourism policies worldwide. The UNWTO also promotes responsible, sustainable, and universally accessible tourism.
The JCDC’s prestigious appointment by the UNWTO endorses Saudi Arabia’s leading and constantly growing stature in the regional and global Travel and Tourism sector and the projects undertaken by the Kingdom to boost tourism as part of its plans for economic diversification and promote vibrant communities, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
JCDC’s candidature was reviewed and approved during the 117th session of the Executive Council after endorsement by the Committee on Matters Related to Affiliate Membership on November 17th, 2022.
The Jeddah Central Project is a unique waterfront development located right in the heart of Jeddah, with architecture inspired by Jeddah’s heritage and old town, Al Balad built using sustainable design and materials, bringing contemporary Saudi culture by the sea to life.
The $20 million project, which is expected to add $12.52 billion to the Kingdom’s economy by 2030, will include four landmarks, an opera house, a museum, a sports stadium and an oceanarium.
