UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds bilateral meetings at UNGA 79

The UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has held separate meetings with several foreign ministers during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79).

The UNGA 79, being held from September 10-30 in New York, highlights pressing global issues. This year’s session revolves around the theme, ‘Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human dignity for present and future generation’.

The UAE minister engaged with Abderaman Koulamallah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Chadians Abroad; Maria Malmer Stenergard, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden; Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India; Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan; Cho Tae-yul, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea; and Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign of Trinidad and Tobago.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah explored the paths of bilateral cooperation and partnership, and ways to enhance them across various sectors, including economic, commercial, investment, cultural, educational, health, agricultural, technology, artificial intelligence, food security, renewable energy, and climate.

The discussions also addressed a range of topics on the agenda of the UNGA 79 and the efforts of the UN to empower international multilateral cooperation in addressing global challenges. The UNGA 79 covers topics such as climate change, sustainable development, global governance, human rights, and digital cooperation.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah also highlighted the UAE’s unwavering commitment to expanding its global partnerships to open new pathways for driving sustainable growth and prosperity, for a future fueled with opportunities for advancement and well-being.

The UAE Minister and the foreign ministers from other countries also shared insights on the latest developments in the regional and international arenas and their impact on international peace and security. Additionally, they discussed the escalating tensions in the Middle East, especially the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The meetings were attended by Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; Omran Sharaf, Assistant Foreign Minister of Advanced Sciences and Technology; and Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the UN.
