TRENDS Research and Advisory, in collaboration with the Bureau for Economic Research (BER) at Stellenbosch University, organized a panel discussion in Cape Town to explore the economic relations between the Middle East and Africa. The event focused on significant economic developments in Africa and highlighted the continent’s promising commercial and investment opportunities.
The discussion featured several researchers and officials from TRENDS, including Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, and Dr. Johann Kirsten, Director of BER, along with numerous experts and researchers.
The panel not only examined economic cooperation prospects but also explored research and scientific collaboration opportunities between TRENDS and BER. The aim is to maximize mutual opportunities and propose innovative solutions to economic and developmental policy challenges.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Ali emphasized the importance of this panel in enhancing research cooperation with leading African think tanks. He noted, “The TRENDS office in Cape Town serves as a focal point for our efforts in Africa, aiming to expand joint research with prestigious African institutions.”
Dr. Al-Ali outlined the strategic objectives for the TRENDS office in Cape Town, which include identifying priority research areas to enhance cooperation with African institutions, establishing effective partnerships with think tanks across Africa, and promoting the exchange of expertise and knowledge between African researchers and their counterparts at TRENDS.
