Dubai has been a global pioneer in digital transformation in recent years, said H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
While chairing the Executive Council’s Strategic Affairs Council, Sheik Hamdan remarked that Dubai’s drive to shape the future puts a high emphasis on cybersecurity. The emirate has a strong focus on increasing the efficiency of its electronic infrastructure to improve its readiness to deal with cyber risks.
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the role played by His Highness Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler in this achievement. It was further stressed that it was the long term vision of H.H. Sheik Mohammed to make Dubai the world’s happiest and smartest city that pushed its transition from e-government to Smart Government and gradually to a Smart City.
The Crown Prince spoke in the presence of H.H. Sheik Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council and H.H. Sheik Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s Deputy Ruler and the First Deputy Chairman of Dubai. The meeting also witnessed the participation of about 60 officials who represented the Dubai government’s various entities.
“Dealing with challenges associated with cybersecurity is a common responsibility. The Dubai Cyber Security Strategy and Dubai Cyber Index seek to create comprehensive protection from security risks, which is a critical element in bolstering Dubai’s leadership in the digital arena. We will continue our journey of innovation and development to make Dubai the world’s safest city in the digital world.”
The recently launched Dubai Cyber Index aims to increase Dubai ‘s electronic infrastructure protection and safety standards by increasing the preparedness of government agencies to deal with cyber disruptions and emergency scenarios. The project would use advanced Artificial Intelligence and Big Data analysis techniques to help companies predict possible cyber threats.
