Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, has introduced a new Work From Home (WFH) policy for parents working in government entities as Dubai schools prepare for reopening.
Sheikh Hamdan tweeted that female employees with children who are using e-learning techniques can work from home. Meanwhile, male employees who have no one to oversee the distance learning of children have also been permitted to conduct their work from home.
These arrangements are expected to enable parents to support their children’s educational journey during the COVID-19 pandemic as schools are scheduled for reopening from August 30.
Permissions for Women Employees
- Women employees will be allowed to work from home if they can do their work remotely but do not affect the activities of the government entities.
- Mothers with children in ninth grade and below will be eligible to work from home as well on days where the children are attending classes remotely.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director-General of the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR), said these proposals reflect the government approach to taking into account the social conditions of employees.
Director-General also added that “It also reflects Sheikh Hamdan’s keenness to ensure family stability and happy and balanced life for Dubai government employees.”
To avail the benefits under the updated work from home policy, employees must provide a letter from the school confirming that their children are enrolled in distance learning.
All previous remote working guidelines remain unchanged.
