The Sharjah International Book Fair—now part of the American Library Association announced a new collaboration in 2013 to create and deliver a unique, high-quality professional development and continuing education experience each year in Sharjah, UAE, serving librarians in the Gulf region and beyond. As one of the largest and most prominent book fairs in the world, the Sharjah International Book Fair is a natural host partner for this professional development conference.
The conference supports the implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to build strong relationships with book industry leaders around the world. Two concurrent full-day preconference will offer in-depth training on RDA: Resource Description and Access for non-book materials, and creating an institutional repository.
