The globally renowned American singer, actress, and producer, Selena Gomez’s cosmetics line Rare Beauty will be hitting the Middle East markets including the UAE from July 1 exclusively through personal care and beauty retailer Sephora.
Rare Beauty was first launched in the US, Canada and Mexico last year, with plans of a global expansion in the summer of 2021. The beauty brand will also be stepping into markets in Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Russia and Europe.
Ms. Gomez first announced the launch of Rare Beauty in 2020, pegging it as a brand that’s all about “breaking down unrealistic standards of perfection”. The globally renowned signer has been an ardent advocate for body positivity and mental health, after admitting that she suffered from depression and anxiety in the past.
“Rare is such a special word to me. It’s all about eliminating the need for perfection. It’s about being comfortable with who you are, embracing who you are, loving who you are and accepting yourself. I want all of us to stop comparing and start embracing our own uniqueness,” Ms. Gomez said.
The beauty brand will be sticking to its altruistic roots, it has announced that one percent of all sales, as well as funds raised from partners, will be dedicated to the Rare Impact Fund that aims to increase access to mental health resources.
The beauty brand is known for its soft, pastel aesthetic and boasts a line-up of products including primers, eyeshadow palettes, lip balms, blushes and a wide range of foundation and concealer shades for every skin tone.
Another prominent celebrity make-up brand that’s available at Sephora in the UAE is pop star Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty, which made its debut in 2017.
