The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), a government agency that deals with data and AI, has concluded the two training programs conducted for the winners of Open Data Datathon.
The programs were held in the United States and the United Kingdom for the top two winners who were selected among the participants who took part in the Open Data Datathon event held in Riyadh.
The event aims to enhance the participants’ knowledge in data and artificial intelligence. It focuses on equipping participants with advanced skills from some of the world’s best universities. The initiative highlights the kingdom’s commitment to enhancing innovation in technology sector.
Traffix Al, one of the winning teams of the event, took part in the Hero Training Program at Draper University in the United States. The team was trained on polishing essential skills as well as creative ideas for starting successful business ventures.
The winning project of Traffix Al seeks to predict vehicle accident damages and error rates using features such as images and damage location. The project is designed to determine the liability in traffic accidents and to minimize traffic congestion.
Team 2030, the second winner, took part in the Data Science for competitive Advantage program in the United Kingdom. Team 30 explored methods to enhance and advance their projects in data and AI, and also recognizing the challenges in such projects and discovering modern data science methods to address them.
Their winning project centered on enhancing a system that utilizes a dataset of driver images to identify early signs of fatigue by analyzing subtle symptoms like eye closure. This system can quickly respond to a sleeping driver, automatically alert the emergency services and ensure the safety of both drivers and passengers on the road.
Traffix Al was awarded a grant of SR250,000 ($66,600) for taking part in the Hero Training Program held at Draper University in California, while Team 2030 was awarded a grant of SR150,000 for participating in the Data Science for Competitive Advantage training program held at London Business School.
