The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) has secured two prestigious global project management awards at the PMI PMO Global Awards.
The exciting news was revealed to the Authority through the official website of the prize. The SWA won two awards under the categories of “Best Project Management Office in Innovation” and “Best Project Management Office in Sustainable Practices.”
The awards not only highlight the outstanding performance of its project management office in innovation and sustainable practices, but also reflect its commitment to implementing latest technological solutions and the delivery of top-tier services in accordance with international benchmarks.
The Authority has adopted sustainable strategies that keep a harmonious balance between economic efficiency and environmental responsibility. The SWA is actively enhancing water resource management through range of large-scale projects and leveraging cutting-edge technologies linked to desalination and water conveyance.
47 projects have been successfully implemented across production, purification, transportation, and storage, with a total cost of SAR 46.47 billion ($12.38 billion). The SWA is also working to execute an additional 60 projects, with an aim to reinforce the Authority’s position as a key leader in water sector advancement at both local and global levels. Initiatives like these highlight the SWA’s unwavering commitment to driving a sustainable future.
The Saudi Water Authority, established in 1974, is the Kingdom’s government agency that oversees the water sector, focusing on sustainable management, service excellence, economic development, innovation and environmental protection.
The SWA previously known as ‘Saline Water Conversion Corporation’ is also known for its pioneering program called “Tamkeen”, which seeks to attract top talent to the Kingdom’s water sector and to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The program provides career opportunities across various areas including artificial intelligence, sustainability, and water desalination.
