Saudi Arabia’s General Department of Traffic has implemented innovative strategies, aimed at enhancing road safety and mitigating accident deaths.
By harnessing the power of global technology and AI, the department focuses on increasing awareness, enforcing regulations, and encouraging compliance among road users.
The traffic accident deaths have been reduced by 50 percent due to the department’s awareness and enforcement efforts. To enhance road safety, the department collaborates with relevant authorities to identify and mitigate “black spots,” areas prone to high accident rates.
These areas are equipped with automatic monitoring systems, facilitating continuous traffic violation detection and mitigation. Additionally, enhanced mobile and foot patrols, paired with 24/7 emergency response services through 911 and 933 hotlines, have successfully enhanced response times to below 10 minutes for traffic accidents and humanitarian cases.
The department also focuses on increasing traffic awareness, organizing exhibitions, conferences, and running campaigns to educate and improve road safety by mitigating unsafe driving behaviors. Furthermore, it fosters compliance with traffic laws among citizens, residents, and visitors.
Moreover, other key areas of focus includes improving driving skills through modern training methods at driving schools throughout the Kingdom. These schools, supervised by highly qualified trainers, equip trainees with top-tier education and practical skills, both men and women. Curricula are constantly updated to meet the highest standards, ensuring that drivers receive knowledge and skills to drive safely.
Through these innovative initiatives, the General Department of Traffic remains committed to enhancing road safety by mitigating traffic-related fatalities, and cultivating a culture of responsible driving in the Kingdom.
