Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha has announced that the Kingdom has launched the ‘Generative Artificial Intelligence for All’ initiative for member states of the Digital Cooperation Organization, in a move to strengthen digital cooperation and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
The new Saudi initiative will support research and develop and govern policies for Artificial Intelligence across member states. It will also increase awareness of its ethics and support capacity building for Artificial Intelligence.
The ‘Generative Artificial Intelligence for All’ initiative is supervised by the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), which is led by the Saudi Data and Intelligence Authority (SDAIA). Furthermore, this new initiative underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to advancing AI research, development, and ethical governance.
According to the statement, the ‘Generative Artificial Intelligence for All’ initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s continuous support for the organization’s mission. It focuses on enhancing digital inclusiveness and prosperity, highlighting the Kingdom’s dedication to expediting digital transformation, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s dedication to expediting digital transformation.
Alswaha noted that the initiative at the Third General Assembly of the Digital Cooperation Organization, chaired by the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Saudi Minister launched it alongside officials from the 16 member states, as well as high-level delegations from partner members and observers.
As per the the statement, “Additionally, this initiative places a significant emphasis on backing Generative Artificial Intelligence for the broader global benefit, marking a major step in Saudi Arabia’s journey towards becoming a leader in the digital and AI domains.”
