For the first time in Miss Universe history, Saudi Arabia will participate in the 73rd Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico.
Renowned model Rumy Alqahtani has been named as the kingdom’s candidate for the Miss Universe Saudi Arabia 2024.
Riyadh-born Alqahtani has already competed in, and won, beauty pageants across the world, including the recent Miss and Mrs Global Asian in Malaysia.
Rumy Alqahtani is a pageant veteran who has won many titles including Miss Arab Peace, Miss Woman SA, Miss Europe SA, Miss Planet SA, Miss Middle East SA, Miss Arab Unity SA, and Miss Asia.
The 27-year-old model and influencer has already been crowned Miss Saudi Arabia, Miss Middle East, Miss Arab World Peace, and Miss Woman (Saudi Arabia).
Alqahtani will now become the kingdom’s first representative for Miss Universe, an international beauty pageant that has been running since 1952.
Dressed in a sequin ballgown, donning a Miss Universe Saudi Arabia sash, and beside the Saudi flag, Alqahtani announced the news to her 1 million followers on Instagram.
“I am honored to participate in the Miss Universe International 2024 competition,” Alqahtani expressed her joy on Instagram.
Alqahtani also said that, “I hold in my hands the colors of gratitude and love and in my heart, I have appreciation and praise for all my friends around the world for this support that has made me happy in gathering social media, and I hope I live up to expectations, and I am happy because I am the first Saudi Miss to represent my country in international competitions, I love you.”
