Ras Al Khaimah has signed a growth partnership agreement with the UK Government to explore new opportunities for collaboration in trade and industry to strengthen the already robust connections between the two parties.
In addition to trade and industry, the partnership seeks to expand into other areas, including education, culture, and heritage. This broader focus reflects a commitment to enhancing mutual ties and fostering a deeper understanding between Ras Al Khaimah and the UK.
The agreement between Ras Al Khaimah’s Investment and Development Office (IDO) and the UK Government’s Department of Business and Trade was signed by Sheikh Khalid bin Saud Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of the IDO, and His Excellency Oliver Christian, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East and Pakistan and His Majesty’s Consul General to Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
Sheikh Khalid bin Saud Al Qasimi said that, “The signing of this growth partnership agreement with the UK Government’s Department of Business and Trade will enhance trade relations and it opens the door to collaborate in other fields. We believe that these multifaceted exchanges will not only benefit our economies but also enrich our communities by promoting shared knowledge and cultural understanding.”
“The agreement embodies Ras Al Khaimah’s vision for a prosperous future, where both parties can leverage each other’s strengths to create sustainable development opportunities. We look forward to exploring new avenues that will empower our businesses and create a dynamic environment for innovation and growth,” Sheikh Khalid added.
The UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade and President of the Board of Trade, the Rt Hon Jonathan Reynolds MP, noted that this agreement is a testament to the wealth of opportunities for British business in the Northern Emirates across every sector and underlines our joint commitment to economic growth for UK and RAK businesses alike.
The agreement outlines multiple sectors where closer working between the UK and Ras Al Khaimah could lead to increased mutual growth, including investment, education, culture, and heritage, specifically on trade.
The agreement also seeks to explore the establishment of a joint business incubator in Ras Al Khaimah, providing a platform for UK companies to expand into the UAE and wider Middle East markets.
