QCPA to host 2nd conference on Qatar’s sustainable development

Qatar Association of Certified Public Accountants (QCPA) is set to organize the 2nd Qatar Sustainable Development and Economic Diversification Conference, in partnership with the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

The conference will be held in Doha on 2nd October, focusing on sustainable development in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, the country’s economic diversification prospects, the knowledge economy, its role in economic diversification as well as the role of governance in achieving the sustainable development.

Sustainable development and economic diversification will be emphasized in the conference to address economic crisis and sustainable development standards along with the disclosures. There will be speakers from international institutions as well as representatives from Qatar and the Middle East.

Dr Hashim Al Sayed, Chairman of QCPA, commented that the conference falls in line with Sustainable Development Goals adopted by UN member states in 2015, also known as the Global Goals, and these goals are a global call to action to eliminate poverty, safeguard the environment and ensure peace and prosperity by 2030.

The conference will provide the opportunity to exchange knowledge, showcase best practices and issue recommendations to strengthen collective efforts in order to contribute to the sustainable development, aligning with the Qatar’s economic, social, and cultural policies amid global economic challenges.

Al Sayed also highlighted the significance of maintaining a balance between social, economic, and environment sustainability in all aspects of development, as the sustainable development goals are interconnected.

The QCPA Chairman added that the Qatar National Vision 2030 constitutes a comprehensive strategy for achieving sustainable development and transforming Qatar into a developed national by 2030. The vision seeks to create economic diversification and to balance an oil-based and knowledge economy, while also promoting industries and services with competitive advantages derived from hydrocarbon industries.

The Qatar Vision 2030 also aims to highlight the significance of economic activities that prioritize research, development, innovation and business excellence.
