The State of Qatar and Nepal have discussed ways to enhance economic and commercial ties within the two counties.
Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani met with Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chairman Chandra Prasad Dhakal to explore areas for enhanced cooperation on the sidelines of the 2024 ACD Business Forum, which took place in Doha, Qatar.
The meeting also witnessed Qatar Chamber Board Member Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, FNCCI Executive Committee Member Manoj Poudel, and Director General Gokarna Raj Awasthi.
During the meeting, both parties reviewed the existing trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and explored key areas of growth, centering on the crucial role of the private sector in elevating trade exchanges. In addition to this, they highlighted the investment environment in both countries and unlocked opportunities for mutual benefit.
The main focus of the discussions was the Qatar-Nepal Joint Business Council, which is co-chaired by Sheikh Khalifa and Dhakal. Both sides emphasized the urgency of identifying council members from Qatar and Nepal to vitalize the council’s role to foster collaboration.
The council aims to serve as a platform to gather business owners from both nations to enhance trade and investment ties through continuous interaction. It is also set to foster cooperation across various sectors such as technology, services, and industry.
The meeting wrapped up with both counties highlighting the significance of the council in strengthening bilateral relations, particularly through direct engagement between the business communities of Qatar and Nepal.
The Joint Business Council’s first extended board meeting is set to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to fortify economic cooperation between the two nations.
