Qatar-Germany trade exchange reported 75% growth in 2021: Qatar Chamber Chairman

As per the figures revealed by Qatar Chamber, trade exchange between Qatar and Germany rose 75 percent over the previous year to touch $3.08 billion in 2021. 

The Chamber led by its Chairman, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani attended several meetings in Berlin recently.

The Qatari Delegation took part in the joint meeting of the Executive Office and the Board of Directors and the General Assembly Meeting of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry ‘Ghorfa’. The Delegation also attended the 25th Arab-German Economic Forum, which was also held in Berlin from 21 June to 23 June.

The Qatar Chamber delegation included but was not limited to;

Joint meeting of the Executive Office and the Board of Directors

The meeting highlighted the strengthening of trade and economic co-operation ties between Germany and Arab countries, while the general assembly meeting approved the items on the agenda.

The Qatar Chamber delegation held several meetings on the sidelines of the Arab-German Economic Forum, including the chamber’s meeting with Ms. Nevine Gamea, Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Hanafi, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers.

During their interaction, both leaders deliberated on the ways to enhance commercial and industrial cooperation relations between Qatar and Egypt, how to encourage mutual investments and the role of the private sector in activating investments to enhance trade exchange.

The leaders also decided to establish a joint Qatari-Egyptian exhibition during which Qatar and Egypt’s industries and products will be promoted, within the framework of increasing the volume of trade exchange.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 25th Arab-German Economic Forum, Sheikh Khalifa observed that Arab-German economic relations have greatly developed in recent years.

Trade Volumes

The Trade Exchange value between Arab nations and Germany stood at $43.51 billion last year of which, Arab exports to Germany were valued at $13.10 billion and German exports to Arab countries were of a valuation of $30.42 billion, reporting a 10 percent growth over 2020, which registered $39.60 billion worth of trade exchange.

Sheikh Khalifa remarked that trade exchange between Qatar and Germany amounted to about $3.08 billion in 2021 compared to $1.76 billion in the previous year, achieving record growth of 75 percent.

The Qatar Chamber Chairman emphasized that Germany is one of Qatar’s most important investment destinations as Qatari investments in Germany vary between the automotive industry, telecommunications, hospitality, banking services, and other vital sectors.
