Qatar Minister of Commerce and Industry, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani has met with Yoshitaka Shindo, Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy of Japan, who is currently on an official visit to the country.

During the meeting, both parties’ discussions focused on matters of mutual interest aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, and industry.

Additionally, they reviewed the latest developments regarding Qatar’s participation in Expo Osaka 2025.

The minister underscored Qatar’s successful economic policies aimed at bolstering the private sector. Minister Shindo highlighted the incentives, legislative frameworks, and promising opportunities available in the country designed to attract investment from entrepreneurs, businessmen, and company owners to Qatar.

Recently, IPA Qatar partnered with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to further develop investment and trade between the two countries.

The partnership between IPA Qatar and JETRO is to facilitate knowledge exchange, support market entry and streamline investment processes for businesses seeking to expand their presence in Qatar.

In expanding the energy relation, in June, QatarEnergy, the State-owned energy company, entered into a long-term supply agreement with ENEOS Corporation, a prominent refining and petrochemical company based in Japan.

QatarEnergy is to supply ENEOS with up to 9 million tons of Naphtha over 10 years starting July 2024.
