The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has entered an agreement with Pact Carbon to launch a pilot project, aimed at boosting the adoption of electric bicycles.
The agreement also includes conducting a study to explore the potential future expansion opportunities, supporting the UAE’s national mission for green and sustainable mobility.
Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, highlighted that the agreement plays a significant role in the UAE’s journey towards sustainable mobility, reducing the carbon footprint in the transportation sector, and enhancing the shift to environmentally friendly transportation modes.
Al Olama stated that, “The Ministry is committed to driving the transition to green mobility and achieving climate neutrality by reducing the carbon footprint in the transportation sector, while promoting the use of sustainable transportation modes, such as electric bicycles.”
Undersecretary also stressed that the agreement highlights the Ministry’s directives towards fostering partnerships with the private sector and leveraging available expertise and capabilities to develop innovative technological solutions that serve the transportation sector.
Al Olama noted that the pilot project for electric bicycles seeks not only to reduce carbon emissions but also to foster a culture of green mobility among community members and boost innovation in the transportation sector. The Ministry is dedicated to working with its partners to support the UAE’s ambitious vision across various sectors for a sustainable and prosperous future.
Oleg Baltin, CEO of Pact Carbon, underscored that the agreement is integral in developing effective solutions to drive green mobility. The company will intensify all its efforts to ensure the success of the pilot project, which will contribute to the future expansion of the partnership with the Ministry.
