Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Economy and Planning has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi National Institute of Health (NIH) to develop and align the strategic direction of national development priorities and economic policies.
According to the statement, “This move will enable the decision-making process through the preparation of methodologies and studies, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.”
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Economy and Planning by the Deputy Minister for Strategic Planning and Institutional Excellence, Dr. Fahad Alhumaidah, and on behalf of the Saudi NIH, by the CEO of the Institute, Dr. Fars Alanazi.
The memorandum of understanding aims to exchange scientific and hands-on experiences, coordinate between both parties in preparing studies and research related to their work, improve their quality, work on organizing joint workshops and training courses to enhance capabilities and skills.
Furthermore, the MoU comes within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to organize economic affairs and enable sustainable growth and economic diversification in the Kingdom through the development of economic policies and plans in cooperation with various public and private sector entities.

The Saudi National Institute of Health was established to oversee and support transitional research and clinical trials in the field of health. It intends to contribute to improving the health, well-being, and quality of life of society, fund transitional research and clinical trials in the field of health and ensure the quality and efficiency of its outputs and transform the results of such research into health and economic benefits, including its investment in coordination with the relevant authorities. The Saudi NIH also aims to contribute to the consolidation of the efforts of stakeholders in transitional research and clinical trials.
