The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and Aljeri Logistic Service have signed two agreements to develop new logistics zones for $42.6 million, at Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam.
The agreement was signed by Omar Hariri, Mawani President, and Khaled Al Qahtani, AlJeri Investment Vice Chairman. Many other key officials also attended the signing ceremony.
Under the agreement, the new logistics, spanning over an area of 150,000 square meters, aim to enhance port efficiency, facilitate trade and strengthen supply chains. This initiative is in line with the goals of National Transport and Logistics Strategy to elevate Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub.
With Aljeri’s 35 years of experience, this strategic partnership seeks to improve the logistics service at the Kingdom’s ports, streamline the requirements of stakeholder, and strengthen commercial activities with strong management capabilities.
Mawani recently unveiled MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company’s new service, Clanga to link King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam with other ports in Singapore and China’s Ningbo, Shanghai, and Shekou by offering weekly sailings accommodating up to 15,000 standard containers. The initiative launched as a part of Mawani’s mission to enhance the competitiveness of Saudi ports and to strengthen trade connectivity between the Kingdom and the Far East ports.
In July, Mawani introduced a new shipping service ‘CBS’ through the Chinese Shipping line ‘NewNew Line’, connecting Jeddah Islamic Port with other ports of Qingdao, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou in China and Damietta in Egypt, facilitating regular weekly sailings with a capacity of up to 4,000 TEUs.
All these initiatives highlight the unwavering commitment of Mawani to enhance the operational efficiency while bolstering the kingdom’s connectivity with global market to reinforce Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
