The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has unveiled the launch of the new “JRS” shipping service by Global Feeder Shipping at Jeddah Islamic Port.
This service will link the Kingdom to ports in Egypt, Oman, and India, thereby improving maritime connectivity and enhancing operational efficiency. The move aligns with Mawani’s efforts to improve the Kingdom’s ranking in the global maritime connectivity index and strengthen its ties to international markets.
Further, it supports national imports and exports while advancing the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to position Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub and a nexus of trade across three continents.
The new JRS shipping service links Jeddah Islamic Port to Mundra port in India; Sokhna, Egypt; and Salalah, Oman. With a capacity of 800 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), the service bolsters the port’s capacity and connectivity.
Mawani’s partnerships with global shipping lines play a key role in the development of Saudi ports by boosting competitiveness, expanding infrastructure, extending maritime routes, and enhancing operational and logistical services.
Recently, Mawani announced the addition of the new Pakistan Gulf Express (PGX) shipping service, operated by Ocean Network Express (ONE), to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. This development enhances the port’s position and competitiveness for exporters, importers, and shipping agents.
This addition highlights the critical role of King Abdulaziz Port in strengthening global logistics networks. With 43 fully equipped berths and a handling capacity of 105 million tons for cargo and containers, the port is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
