Since the latest coronavirus outbreak, face masks, gloves and other safety equipment have become a part of our everyday lifestyle. And now, who says it can’t be fashionable?
France based luxury brand Louis Vuitton is all set to introduce their first face shield, with the monogram and gold studs of the brand. Yes, the brand wants it to be both ‘stylish and protective.’
The brand’s premium face shields will be available at a pricey price of $961 from October 30. The step is an effort to make personal protective equipment a fashion statement, as there is no near end to coronvairus in sight, and a lavish one at that. The shield is a part of the 2021 Cruise collection by Louis Vuitton and features an elastic monogrammed band attached to the shield and gold studs etched with the LV logo.
When you flip the shield upwards it can be worn as a hat too. What’s more, it even comes with a transition lens technology, which will transform from clear to dark, depending on the sunlight hitting it.
The company had launched the manufacture of hundreds of thousands of non-surgical protective masks at the start of the pandemic, along with transforming its RTW (Ready-To-Wear) studio in Paris to produce hospital gowns.
Palm Angels, Marine Serre, Fendi and Cristian Siriano are other brands that are also launching their own version of premium personal protection equipment such as face masks.
Though the health organizations currently do not recommend using face shields as an alternative for masks, because it is not clear what level of protection they offer, if you are using it, it is recommended that you wash your hands before and after removing it and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth while removing it.
