Italian manufacturer of luxury automobiles Lamborghini’s 1970s model supercar Countach is returning in a modernized form to pay homage to the iconic original that debuted 50 years ago.
The Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 is limited to only 112 units worldwide. The first part is short for Longitudinale Posteriore Ibrido (LPI), which refers to the supercar’s powerplant being situated lengthwise toward the back and the fact that it’s a hybrid. Meanwhile, the two numbers refer to the Countach’s V12 6.5-liter engine and 48-volt electric motor’s combined output of about 802 horsepower, as well as the fact that it features four-wheel drive.
The Countach can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour (mph) in less than three seconds and from 0 to 124 mph in less than nine seconds. As for a top speed, it can be pushed to 221 mph with a maximum torque of 531 lb-ft.
The Countach’s electric engine is powered by a supercapacitor that, according to Lamborghini, delivers three times the power of a lithium-ion battery of the same weight. The electric motor was mounted directly to the gearbox to preserve the impression of power transfer that a V12 engine provides.
With a digitized instrument panel and an 8.4-inch HDMI center touchscreen, the Lamborghini Countach is as modern as it gets. It supports Apple CarPlay among other features. The leather on the seats, dashboard, door pads, and other areas is of the highest quality, suiting a car that will most certainly cost more than a couple million dollars.
The Countach is built around a carbon-fiber monocoque with aluminum front and back frames, as well as carbon fiber body panels. Its 6.5-liter V12 engine which produces 769 bhp is paired with a 48V hybrid arrangement, similar to the Sian, for a total power output of 802 bhp.
The Lamborghini Countach will reach a high speed of 355 kilometers per hour.
