The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), represented by the Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department Tarsheed, has conducted an awareness-raising workshop on energy and water efficiency in buildings.
The workshop reviewed and discussed on mechanisms that can be adopted to improve energy as well as water efficiency in buildings. Technicians involved in building energy management were the main targets, and the aim is to create awareness about adopting environmental protection and energy efficiency strategies, following guided methods and implementing sound practices to rationalize electricity and water to build a sustainable future and to ensure a better life in Qatar.
During the workshop, ideas were shared and many discussions were conducted about the effective management of energy consumption in order to reduce the waste of energy and water, encouraging participants to adopt measures that reduce the consumption bills, save money and reduce the carbon emissions.
This initiate comes as a part of the National Program (Tarsheed), to achieve the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030 where environmental development and economic development are two of the major pillars. Qatar aims to promote modernization while preserving the nation’s traditions and most importantly, the needs of future generations through guided growth.
The workshop highlights Qatar’s commitment to promoting sustainability. Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation has introduced many initiatives and programs in many areas such as awareness, social responsibility, education, and in the implementation of sustainable development system in the field of rationalization, to enhance values, and to convey the culture of consumer rationalization to all the segments of society.
