Authorities highlighted that candidates who have previously contracted COVID-19 along with those who have had serious illnesses or have lower immunity status will not be considered for the vaccine trials.
Volunteers are advised to use the dedicated hotline 02 8191111 to gather more information and redress their queries regarding the trials.
The vaccine trials which is the result of a collaboration between Chinese pharmaceutical giant, Sinopharm CNBG, and Abu Dhabi’s G42 Healthcare, will be operated by health practitioners from Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) at five of their sites in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain along with a mobile clinic to ensure the trials are readily accessible to volunteers participating in the program.
The Chinese firm which developed the inactivated vaccine, found it to be safe in the first two phases of human trials. The key reason to choose UAE as a preferred location was largely contributed to its demographic heterogeneity of the trial participants which were available for Phase 3 trials.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi, was the first individual to be given the Phase 3 inactivated vaccine for COVID-19.
