Japanese Fruits make inroads into the Middle Eastern market

Japanese Fruits are making a significant impact in the Middle East, with a promotional event in Abu Dhabi on November 19 and 20, highlighting premium produce such as strawberries, apples, melons, and more.

Organized by the Japan Fruits and Vegetables Export Promotion Council (J-FEC), this event was the fourth of its kind in the UAE and the first to be held in the nation’s capital, Abu Dhabi.

Japanese fruits are famous for their exceptional quality, unique varieties, and particular cultivation methods. Japanese fruits are renowned for the meticulous care given to their cultivation, with an emphasis on factors such as size, color, and flavor.

As a result, these fruits have gained significant demand in international markets, including the Middle East, where they are regarded as luxury items or prestigious gifts because of their premium quality.

The producers from regions such as Hokkaido, Tokyo, Okayama, Kumamoto, and Miyazaki took part in the event, showcasing their fruits to an audience of local chefs, buyers, and residents. The event featured a business-oriented trade fair and consumer-targeted activities, allowing attendees to taste and learn about Japanese fruits firsthand.

J-FEC Chairman Yoshihisa Hishinuma said that, “We hope this initiative will help more people discover the unique appeal of Japanese produce and foster new business opportunities.”

The event drew widespread appreciation, with attendees praising the high quality and distinctive flavor of the fruits. Rajesh, a veteran chef in Abu Dhabi, noted that Nagano apples stood out for their remarkable sweetness and versatility in culinary applications.
