Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza) and Global Surfaces FZE have introduced the largest engineered surfaces manufacturing facility in the Middle East.
The new facility is the first of its kind in the UAE. With an investment of approximately AED 100 million ($27 million), it spans across nearly 40,000 square meters, marking a key achievement in Global Surfaces’ expansion in the Gulf region.
The commercial production commenced in February 2024. The $27 million facility utilizes cutting-edge SCADA-controlled machinery and multiple CNC machines to produce top-tier engineered quartz surfaces that reflect the beauty of natural stones.
With an annual production capacity of more than 620,000 square meters, Global Surfaces is set to cater to the surging demand for premium surfaces in the Gulf and key international markets, including the USA and Canada.
The launching event was attended by Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director at DP World GCC, and Mayank Shah, Managing Director at Global Surfaces, along with senior representatives from the two organizations.
“We are delighted to welcome Global Surfaces to Jafza, where they join a thriving community of businesses. The establishment of this advanced manufacturing facility will provide the construction sector with locally produced high-quality surfaces which previously had to be imported to the UAE. We are committed to growing the UAE’s manufacturing base, providing companies with state-of-the-art infrastructure and paving the way for a more resilient and diversified economy.”
Mayank Shah stated that, “The new facility is a significant milestone in our global growth strategy, allowing us to capitalize on Jafza’s strategic location and world-class infrastructure to enhance our logistics capabilities. This improved connectivity enables efficient exports to key markets across the Gulf, USA, and Canada, and is essential to strengthening our market presence and meeting the growing demand for high-quality engineered surfaces. Our focus is on reaching full capacity utilization within the next year while exploring further expansion opportunities to continue setting new standards in the industry.”
During the launching event, Global Surfaces unveiled its new product series, “QUARTZITES,” a premium, nature-inspired collection crafted from the finest raw materials and cristobalite. Equipped with advanced patented technology licensed by Florida-based SQIP, Global Surfaces plans to introduce its futuristic “MARQUARTZ” collection.
Furthermore, the company is committed to eco-friendly production by using renewable energy, recycled materials, and an advanced water treatment system that reuses 80 percent of water, in line with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 targets, contributing to the sustainability goals.
