Qatar Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has entered into a partnership with the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (Invest Qatar) to hold the second annual government sector forum.
The forum aims to establish a robust mechanism for addressing private sector challenges. This comes as part of the MOCIs commitment to enhancing the business environment and economic competitiveness in the country, in a manner that contributes to the objectives of Qatar Vision 2030.
Saleh Majid Al Khulaifi, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs and Business Development and Ayedh Manahi Al Qahtani, Assistant Undersecretary for Commerce Affairs at the MOCI, attended the event along with over 50 participants from 26 government agencies.
Al Khulaifi highlighted Qatar’s remarkable growth across various economic sectors, pointing out that the government has ambitious plans to support and empower the private sector to play a key role in driving the economic growth.
Saleh Majid Al Khulaifi also emphasized that the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030 adopts a new approach based on bold and rapid reforms to elevate Qatar’s business environment, aiming to achieve a positive shift in the economic growth model, which enhances the role of the private sector to emerge as the key driver of the economy.
Furthermore, Al Khulaifi stressed the significance of continuing these efforts to achieve the goals of the National Development Strategy, noting that empowering the private sector will allow the government to focus its resources on supporting innovation and enhancing the competitive environment.
Ayedh Manahi Al Qahtani highlighted the importance of joint cooperation between the government and private sectors to address the challenges facing the development of businesses in the State of Qatar. Al Qahtani also underscored the MOCI’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with the private sector and supporting it in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
During the event, Invest Qatar gave a visual presentation on the investment climate in Qatar, and the key improvements made over the past year to enhance the business environment.
Additionally, The MOCI presented the achievements of the Round Table Project, reviewing the private sector challenges and the key opportunities available to improve the business environment, through continuous cooperation with the relevant authorities.
Furthermore, there included a presentation by the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, shedding light on how different entities can cooperate to address common challenges.
Before concluding the event, a number of government agencies were recognized for their active participation, including the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Culture, the MOCI’s Trade Sector, and the General Authority of Customs.
