Google Maps is getting smarter with Gemini-powered AI features such as curated inspiration, improved navigation and updated Immersive View.

With the cutting-edge feature, users can get inspirations curated with Gemini about things to plan and do. For example, users can ask for “things to do with friends at night”, and the Google Maps will suggest places with live music, engaging events, and more.

In addition, users can write prompts in natural language and ask Google Maps to provide specific details about a venue, such as the availability of outdoor seating. The app will also provide review summaries, with what users said about the particular location. According to Google, this feature will begin rolling out this week to the US users of Android and iOS.

The updated navigation feature will show lanes, crosswalks, and road signs on the map. This will help users avoid hassles and troubles. The enhanced navigation help one plan trip, providing top landmarks, attractions, and dining options along the selected route. This feature is being launched to 30 metro areas and will roll out to more areas in the future.

The users can also see and report weather disruptions such as flooded roads, low visibility, and unplowed roads. Furthermore, the updated arrival guidance feature will provide users with nearby parking lots and remind them to save their parking location so they do not forget. After parking, one gets the walking direction from the car to the entrance.

Immersive View, an AI feature that lets users experience the route as they would appear in reality, will provide the weather and traffic conditions on the day and time the user is planning to visit. This feature will be expanded to 150 cities globally.

Immersive View for routes will also help users with where to park and show if things like a complex turn along one’s route. This update will be rolling out this week on Android and iOS wherever Immersive View for routes is available.
