The tech giant Google has introduced three new AI features coming to its Chrome, using the latest Google AI and Gemini models, for enhanced searching experience.
These three new AI-powered features will launch within weeks, making it easier to search what one sees in the desktop screen with the help of Google lens, compare products across multiple tabs and to search for a particular site from browser history.
Google Lens
Google Lens, already introduced in phones for enhanced searching, is set to come in Chrome Desktop. The Chrome on desktop will have same capabilities, enabling users to click anywhere on the screen to search and ask questions without leaving the current tab. Users can use this feature by clicking Google Lens in the address bar or the right-click or three dot menu. Once selected, the results with visual matches will appear in the side panel. The feature will also let the user refine their searches by color, brand etc., offering an opportunity to dive deep into the subject.
Tab compare
This feature is set to enhance the online shopping experience of Chrome users. The tab compare feature powered by AI will provide an overview of products, such as product specs, features, price, ratings from multiple open tabs in one place. This will make it easier for the users to compare and decide without the endless tab switching.
Smart history search
Though Chrome already saves history and offers the list of sites users have visited, it is difficult to get the particular site without scrolling through the sea of sites. This new feature will enable the users to search by simply searching on the search option in the address bar, and Chrome will show the relevant pages from the browsing history. This feature is optional on Incognito mode, where users can turn it off or on from the settings.
