US-based vehicle company General Motors (GM) has launched its pioneering in-vehicle safety and security technology ‘OnStar’ in the UAE.
According to the statement, the introduction was part of its ongoing commitment to providing leading safety solutions to its customers.
OnStar provides drivers with the most comprehensive safety and security services available, as well as enables the underlying connectivity in vehicle brands, allowing for a spectrum of connected services centered on convenience and innovation.
“The subscription-based service also features an in-vehicle Wi-Fi plan offering – a first for the region and will be available on most 2021 Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac models,” as per the company.
“Launching OnStar in the UAE is a milestone on our journey towards a future of Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion. We have just celebrated the UAE’s Golden Jubilee and as we look forward to the next 50 years, we envision a fully-connected future that begins with the launch of OnStar. The company said that OnStar provides the Protect Plan and the Connect Plan to meet the needs of different customers.
The members can make use of a variety of key OnStar protection features with the Protect plan, including Automatic Crash Response, Emergency Services, Stolen Vehicle Assistance, and Roadside Assistance. “Alternatively, with the Connect plan, Members will be able to access services such as Remote Key Lock and Unlock, On-Demand Vehicle Diagnostics, and Connected Navigation,” the company said.
As per the statement, each of the available OnStar and Connected Services plans is priced at just $26.9 (AED 99) per month. The customers who want the complete OnStar package, which includes both Protect and Connect features, can purchase a bundle plan for $40 (AED 149).
