Gemini Live, Google’s voice-powered artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot feature, is rolling out to all Gemini users on Android for free.
The voice mode, initially launched during Google I/O in May, was rolled out to Gemini Advanced users last week and is now being extended to all Gemini users on Android. The company plans to launch this feature to iOS users in future.
According to the reports, to access this feature, users need to open the Gemini app and select the new “circular waveform with a sparkle’ icon on the bottom right of the app. This will take the users to a full-screen interface of Gemini live with “End” and “Hold” buttons placed at the bottom.
To stop Gemini Live, users can either tap on the notification or simply say “Stop”. When a conversation ends, users will get the textual transcript of the prompts, the conversation they had with Gemini. All responses will be recorded in the history section, providing users with the chance to restart the conversation.
Apart from its AI chatbot hands-free functionality, it stands out for its conversational and human-like voice, which displays emotions and maintains conversational flow through varied pitch and tone. The feature currently does not support extensions to other apps such as Gmail, Maps, and more.
The feature is also limited to devices set in English language, but Google plans to expand to other languages in future. The recent launch also introduces 10 different voices to choose while chatting with Gemini. Each voice has unique characteristics, such as pitch variations, regional accents, and energy levels.
