The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has entered into a partnership with Volar Air Mobility, a green air mobility technology company based in Hong Kong.
The MoU was signed during the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Symposium 2024. The collaboration aims to develop the UAE’s first-ever Green Aviation Technology Hub, highlighting the nation’s commitment to reducing environmental footprint to drive sustainable growth in aviation sector.
The Green Aviation Technology Hub seeks to enhance clean energy solutions, promote research and development in sustainable aviation technologies, and foster collaboration among international stakeholders, regulators, and innovators. This initiative falls in line with the UAE’s broader vision to emerge as a global leader in green technology.
“This MoU reflects our commitment to advancing sustainable aviation and supporting the UAE’s national strategy to reduce carbon emissions. The Green Aviation Hub will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge solutions for a greener future.”
Henry Hooi, Chairman of Volar Air Mobility, stated that, “We are excited to partner with the GCAA in establishing this innovative hub. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of green aviation technologies, and this collaboration will create a center of excellence for sustainable air mobility in the UAE.”
The partnership between GCAA and Volar Air Mobility highlights the shared vision to transform air travel through green technology, enhancing both the UAE and the global aviation community.
GCAA, launched in 1996, has been a pioneer in promoting sustainable growth in the aviation industry. Last June, GCAA participated in IATA 80th Annual General Meeting, reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to fostering international cooperation with an aim to reduce carbon emissions.
