Ferrari opts Amazon’s cloud unit as its official cloud provider

American eCommerce giant Amazon’s cloud unit Amazon Web Services (AWS) has entered into an agreement with Italian luxury sports car manufacturer Ferrari to become their official cloud, machine learning, and artificial intelligence provider.

According to the company statement, “Together, the companies will accelerate the pace of innovation across the entire Ferrari organization, including their road cars department, GT Competitions, the Ferrari Challenge, and the Scuderia Ferrari FORMULA 1 (F1) team.”

According to AWS, the agreement will help Ferrari improve the design and testing of its cars, as well as allow its Scuderia Ferrari Formula One racing team to develop a digital fan engagement platform.

AWS said that the Ferrari will use cloud unit’s sophisticated analytics, machine learning, compute, storage, and database capabilities “to rapidly achieve insights into car design and performance on the road and track.”

In a separate statement, Ferrari has stated that the engagement platform it will develop with AWS will “increasingly integrate Formula One fans with the daily life of its racing team and its drivers” through “personalization tools, exclusive content, and interactive applications.”

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. “As part of the partnership, the AWS logo will appear on Scuderia Ferrari’s cars and drivers’ apparel starting from the French Grand Prix this weekend,” AWS noted.
