Saudi Arabia’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company (EVIQ) has announced the commencement of its first fast-charge station operations for electric vehicles in Riyadh city.
EVIQ is a leading provider of EV charging solutions to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) across Saudi Arabia.
According to the company statement, “The station features two high-voltage quick chargers, each with a capacity exceeding 100 KW, allowing up to four vehicles to charge simultaneously.”
The CEO of EVIQ, Mr. Mohammad Baker Gazzaz expressed the company’s determination to install over 5,000 fast chargers in 1,000 locations across the Kingdom by 2030.
EVIQ, a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge electric vehicle charging technology in a timely manner, Mr. Gazzaz added.
The new site includes two cutting-edge fast chargers, each with an output power of more than 100 kW, which will provide free high-power charging to all EV users in Riyadh.
Further, the move ushers in a new era of public accessibility and convenience, in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals of increasing electric vehicle adoption.
“This is a landmark moment for EVIQ, and a significant first achievement in our plans to deploy 5,000 fast chargers across 1,000 strategic locations around the Kingdom by 2030. The opening of our first site at ROSHN Front means that the public has access to the most advanced electric vehicle charging technology These fast chargers will revolutionize public EV charging, allowing EV drivers to top-up their vehicles in a short period of time,” Mr. Gazzaz added.
