The Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Criminal Investigation, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sharjah Islamic Bank to solidify cooperation, enhance coordination, and strengthen partnership relations.

The MoU aims to bolster the security system in collaboration with partners, focusing on studying and anticipating future economically motivated crimes. Through this MoU, both parties will enhance cooperation and share expertise in areas of mutual interest and objectives.

Brigadier Muhammad Aqeel Ahli, Deputy Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation for Search and Investigation Affairs, emphasized that partnerships between Dubai Police and the private sector are part of a collaborative framework to establish predictive work models that achieve shared goals in preventive planning and elevate performance standards. These partnerships consider global economic, criminal, and technological changes, necessitating proactive measures to significantly and effectively advance the security system.

The Deputy Director added that as a global economic and investment hub, Dubai strives to intensify cooperation with internal and external partners to strengthen its security system. With this in mind, the General Department of Criminal Investigation develops strategic plans aligned with global trends to anticipate future security challenges, particularly in combating various types of crime, including economic crime.

“The evolving nature of fraud, as international studies indicate, has intensified as countries and individuals increasingly rely on technology in both professional and personal activities. To address this, Dubai Police remains responsive to these trends to ensure Dubai is among the safest cities worldwide,” Brigadier Ahli said.

Under the terms of the MoU, both parties agreed to contribute to developing the Anti-Economic Crime Operations Centre platform, supervised by Dubai Police, and upgrading the General Department of Criminal Investigation operations room.

According to the statement, this includes information sharing, launching joint security and community initiatives to raise awareness of economic and financial crimes, and exchanging knowledge and expertise to improve human resource skills between the two organizations.

Dr Amin Khairallah Al Ali, Chief Operating Officer of Sharjah Islamic Bank, commented, “The signing of this new MoU between the bank and the Dubai Police aligns with our steadfast commitment to enhancing cooperation with both government and private sector entities across the UAE to achieve our shared objectives.”

“This partnership marks a crucial step towards institutional integration through knowledge and experience exchange across multiple sectors, particularly in the financial field. Sharjah Islamic Bank is dedicated to providing innovative solutions utilizing cutting-edge technology and fintech, which boosts efficiency and improves services provided to the community,” Khairallah Al Ali added.
