Dubai Municipality has completed the beautification project at the intersection of Airport Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
The initiative aims to enhance Dubai’s aesthetic appeal and elevate the city’s status as a unique global tourist destination. The new stunning green space blends modern and sustainable design and displays the words ‘Welcome to Dubai’ in both Arabic and English, providing a captivating aerial view of the city and a distinctive greeting to visitors.
H.E. Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality emphasized that the project has been developed in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
This beautification project highlights the Municipality’s commitment to expanding the green spaces in the Emirate and enhancing the city’s aesthetic appeal in accordance with the international sustainability standards, thereby creating an attractive and welcoming environment for both visitors and residents.
“This is one of many Dubai Municipality projects being implemented to enhance the city’s attractiveness through landscaping that successfully balances urban development with environmental sustainability. We will continue to develop similar spaces throughout the Emirate to increase vegetation cover and create aesthetic features that contribute to Dubai’s unique appeal as a global tourist destination.”
The AED 26 million ($7.07 million) green space, spanning over an area of 360,000 square meters, at the intersection of Airport Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road is one of the largest beautification projects in the Emirate. From colored gravel to innovative lighting, it features decorative elements to enhance the visual experience of visitors during the day and night.
Around 50,000 plants and shrubs of different species of vegetation have been installed to enrich the aesthetic appeal of the landscape. In addition to this, Innovative plant fences supported by modern irrigation systems have been developed to elevate the design’s vibrancy and beauty. This will maintain greenery and optimize water usage, achieving harmonious balance between urban development and sustainability.
