Dubai’s Department of Economic Development (Dubai Economy) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Emirates Payment Services, to allow payments related to commercial licenses through the Empay smart application.

Empay is the first contactless instant credit lifestyle payment ecosystem to offer an instant line of credit for a range of services.

The agreement will allow Dubai Economy clients to have an instant credit facility and complete licensing transactions within five minutes. Users registering on Empay can have their Emirates ID scanned on the application, following which a digital card with an instant credit balance will be produced in two minutes.

The Mastercard-powered digital card will allow users to complete payments in a smooth, quick, smart, and secure manner. The Empay can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and the App Store.

The signing of the MoU was attended by Mohammed Hassan Al Shehhi, Deputy CEO of Corporate Support Services in Dubai Economy, and Muna Al Qassab, Chief Executive Officer of the Emirates Payment Services LLC.

Empay app was introduced as part of the efforts of Dubai Economy to develop the country’s cashless payments ecosystem and provide an effective digital transaction solution. And, it was implemented in line with Dubai Cashless Working Group’s objective of consolidating the efforts of various government agencies to accelerate the successful and seamless transformation of Dubai into a cashless society.

The innovative app will also contribute to the achievement of the goals of the Dubai Paperless Strategy, which seeks to develop an integrated system for paperless government work by using advanced technology.
