The latest news from Dubai tourism officials suggests that the country could reopen itself to tourism by July.
Helal Al Marri, Director-General of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing mentioned that the process is likely to be slow and phased could get delayed until September, depending on restraints in place across the rest of the world.
“The thing about the scenario is a global question. Many countries remain closed and it’s more about the bilateral discussion.”
Dubai tourist visas have been halted since March 17 as a prudent step to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Tourism is one of Dubai’s biggest industries with 16.73 million visitors last year contributing over Dh 150 billion to the local economy.
