UAE-based largest aviation event Dubai Airshow 2021 will hold pitch competitions in collaboration with leading local and international aerospace companies such as Etihad Airways, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Boeing Applied Innovation.

The collaborations intend to provide disruptive startups with an opportunity to show off their innovative technologies and creative ideas in support of initiatives introduced by the aerospace companies.

The VISTA pitch competitions will be divided into three categories, each of which will focus on a different aspect of the industry’s future growth such as sustainability, space, and innovation.

According to the statement, startups will have the opportunity to showcase their ideas to the aerospace ecosystem, tech leaders, and investors over the course of two days of live pitches.

The sustainability challenge, which is being organized in collaboration with Etihad Airways, is aimed at startups that can deliver solutions that help reduce indirect emissions that occur throughout Etihad Airways’ ground and air operations, including cargo.

The space challenge held in conjunction with MBRSC and AWS welcomes startups to create an end-to-end deep learning or machine learning model that can autonomously detect all palm trees from RGB aerial imagery with minimal computing time.

Furthermore, the VISTA Innovation Cup invites innovative entrepreneurs from around the world to propose their product or solution for a chance to earn the title of ‘Most Innovative Startup at Vista 2021.’

Mr. Tim Hawes, Managing Director at Tarsus F&E LLC and organizer of Dubai Airshow 2021 said, “Through collaborating with some of the biggest names in the aerospace industry for holding the VISTA competition, we provide startups with an unparalleled opportunity to learn from industry leaders.”

“The aerospace and defense industries thrive on innovation and Boeing is committed to finding and funding startups with the potential for developing ground-breaking technology. As a sponsor of VISTA, we look forward to meeting with and mentoring startup teams that represent the future of our industry; the innovative work they do is vital to the future of aerospace,” commented Mr. Ayal Somech, Director at Boeing’s Applied Innovation team, the Strategic Sponsor for VISTA.
