One of the world’s largest air services providers, UAE-based Dubai National Air Transport Association (dnata) unveiled a ‘smart’ freight handling platform to support its Dubai operations.
The new ‘Appointment and Dock Management’ from dnata is a cloud-based platform that enables improved planning, efficient processing and end-to-end transparency of the entire cargo journey leading to considerable benefits to all stakeholders.
The solution which is powered by Siemens Logistics and its subsidiary Siemens Digital Logistics is capable of reducing the average freight handling time at dnata’s cargo terminals by more than 60 percent.

The new platform allows freight forwarders to book an appointment with the cargo terminal to deliver and pick up consignments. The solution is capable of to intelligently predicting the duration and suggest an appropriate slot based on the historical behavior of the forwarders and the flight schedule.
