Dubai’s state-owned utility service provider Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has earned the highly-coveted 2020 Hamdan Bin Mohammed Programme for the Government Services Flag for its Smart Living initiative.
DEWA’s Smart Living initiative empowers its customers to monitor their water and electricity consumption digitally and proactively without any assistance from the authority.
The honor is a testament to DEWA’s sustainable initiatives while reinforcing its track record of accomplishments and awards.
Within a short span of just 8 months (July 2020-January 2021) since its inauguration by DEWA, the ‘Smart Living’ initiative helped 618,913 customers in saving up to 179.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and 67.7 million gallons of water, equating to a monetary savings of $14.32 million.
As the initiative gained 100 percent adoption with 1.24 million recorded digital visits, 15,643 tonnes of carbon emissions were cut from the system.
While the DEWA customer trust increased to 92 percent, their satisfaction reached 98 percent. The initiative has also improved the productivity of employees by 27 percent, with service quality touching 94 percent.
“We take pride in this new milestone, which confirms that we are on the right course to implement the pioneering method adopted by Dubai Government, and we are realizing the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the directives of H.H. They will enrich customers’ experiences, achieve their happiness, and exceed their expectations.”
