DEWA’s digital campaign concludes successfully; Promotes sustainable living

State-owned utility service provider Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) ‘Let’s Make This Summer Green Campaign’, which aims to raise customer awareness on adopting a sustainable and smart lifestyle to make a positive impact on the environment, concluded successfully.

The sixth edition of the campaign was organized under the theme ‘Create memories that last forever’ via social media, internal and external channels of DEWA. The Authority’s employees in the last three months led the most extensive digital campaign to conserve electricity and water by joining hands with public and private entities in Dubai. 

With the program, DEWA targets to motivative its customers to use the services and innovative features on its website and smart app to monitor and control their electricity and water consumption and get tips on reducing the usage. It plays a pioneering role in promoting conservation in Dubai, with effective social campaigns to promote environmentally friendly practices.

The campaign has also launched the Green Summer competition which will run until the end of September, for society members to save electricity and water. The participants can enter a raffle draw to get valuable prizes. The Authority also organized virtual and physical lectures for the educational, government, industrial, and commercial sectors. 

As part of the program, DEWA’s Conservation Team presented 30 lectures and workshops for 3,151 employees and students in Dubai. During the campaign, DEWA associated with the Madrasa initiative, a Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative, with videos to motivate children to practice conservation during summer.

The sixth edition of the campaign highlighted the ‘Smart Living’ initiative for customers to monitor their consumption at home through their DEWA accounts on the website or smart app. Customers also benefit from the ‘My Sustainable Living’ program to compare their consumption with similar homes in their area or use DEWA Store to purchase energy and water-saving devices.

DEWA’s conservation programs and initiatives between 2011 and 2020 achieved cumulative savings within the target groups amounting to 2.44 terawatt-hour (TWh) of electricity and 6.7 billion gallons of water, equivalent to reducing 1.22 million tonnes of CO2 emissions.
