Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched an innovative feature to its ‘Smart Living’ initiative, the new ‘Away Mode’ service will allow the residential customers to track their electricity and water usage when they are not at home.
The residential customers who have smart electricity and water meters can activate this new feature via their accounts on DEWA’s website or its smart app. The users can choose an activation period, based on which they will receive daily or weekly data email.
In line with DEWA’s vision to become a prominent sustainable innovative corporation around the globe, the authority has employed cutting edge technologies supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data.
The inclusion of these technologies has built a smooth flow of accurate information to customers through the website or smart app of DEWA and to self-diagnose any problems causing wastage or increased consumption.
“We are committed to raising awareness on sustainability among customers, reducing cost, environmental impact and carbon footprint. We also encourage them to conserve resources as a daily and cultural practice. This supports the Demand Side Management Strategy to reduce electricity and water consumption by up to 30 percent by 2030.”
The ‘Smart Living initiative’ which launched this year, has several features for customers to track their electricity or water consumption and take required decisions even without contacting DEWA. To avail of these services, customers can log in to their DEWA account on the website or smart app and then update their Consumption Pattern file to get personal tips and monitor their usage.
Customers can also make use of the offers on the DEWA Store to purchase smart home systems, as well as energy and water-saving devices.
