In 2024, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) ranked UAE 7th globally and 1st in the MENA region in its Gender Inequality Index (GII). This is a significant improvement from its 49th place in 2015 and 11th place in 2021 and 2022, highlighting UAE’s progress in gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Emirati Women’s Day, established by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, has recognized the efforts of women who have set new standards in various fields. Government initiatives like the UAE Gender Balance Council and the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Emirati Women have been key in fostering an environment where women excel.

Their contributions in fields like technology, finance, healthcare, and education are creating a more inclusive and prosperous society.
