Bayanat, a leading provider of AI-powered geospatial solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Vay, the provider of automotive-grade teledriving (remote driving) technology.

Under the partnership, Bayanat and Vay will work closely to expand teledriving solutions across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific countries. Additionally, the agreement will witness the establishment of a joint R&D arm, dedicated to the development and expansion of cutting-edge, safe autonomous technology.

By leveraging Bayanat’s operational infrastructure, data and AI capabilities, and Vay’s teledriving expertise, the partnership aims to drive innovation of autonomous vehicles, and to meet the surging demand for advanced modes of mobility.

Bayanat’s smart mobility solutions are powered by gIQ, an AI-enabled platform that integrates data from space and ground assets for decision-making, enhanced situational awareness, and improved operational efficiency.

With Vay’s technology, professionally trained teledrivers can remotely drive vehicles to the customer’s pick-up location. It allows the user to drive manually once it arrives. After the journey is complete, the user can simply end the rental in the app, as a teledriver handles parking or drives the car to the next customer.

This system offers a sustainable, door-to-door mobility service at half the cost of traditional ride-hailing. Bayanat’s AI insights, informed by geospatial data, will enhance the remote experience for Vay’s trained teledrivers.

Vay is the only company in Europe to operate on public roads without the help of a safety driver. In January 2024, Vay launched its groundbreaking commercial teledriving service in Las Vegas. Vay’s teledriving technology promotes safer, sustainable and livable cities, by optimizing the use of its electric fleet, potentially reducing the cars on the road.
